Endothelial dysfunction precedes apparentatherosclerosis in human. Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) is one of the most risk factors for arterioscleroticvascular disease, primarily, as the result of adverse changesin arteries. Therefore, identifying the factors related to impairedendothelial- dependent dilation with T2DM is crucialfor the purpose of prevention and/or treatment endothelialdysfunction.Objective:The aim of this study was to examine relevant factors associatedwith endothelial dysfunction in T2DM. In a total of234 diabetes patients, we assessed endothelial function byflow-mediated dilation and analyzed relevant factors effectedon endothelial function.Methods:We enrolled 234 T2DM patients attending Dokkyo MedicalUniversity Hospital( April from 2008 to February 2012).There were no changes in medications on hypertension, diabetes,and dyslipidemia during the previous 3 months. Thevascular response to reactive hyperemia in the brachial arterywas used for assessment of endothelial function(Flow-mediated dilation:FMD).Results:In this study, HbA1c, systolic blood pressure, LDL-cholesterol,Triglycerides, and duration of diabetes were negativelyassociated with % FMD by simple linear regressionanalysis.
