Here, we examined the craniofacial characteristicsand body mass index of patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome and healthy counterparts,and investigated the relationship between these factors and onset of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopneasyndrome.MATERIAL AND METHODS:Sixty non-edentulous male with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndromediagnosed by conventional polysomnography were divided into two groups according to their bodymass index, which was used as an index of obesity( <25 kg/m2:non-obese, ≥ 25 kg/m2:obese). Craniofacialcharacteristics were analysed by cephalogram using Ricketts' method and the Downs-Northwesternmethod.RESULTS:The mean body mass index was greater in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopneasyndrome compared with their healthy counterparts. As for the craniofacial characteristics of patients withobstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome, the mandible was relatively small and located posteriorly, andthe hyoid bone was at a lower position. However, in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome,there was no significant difference in any of the cephalometric measurements between non-obeseand obese patients.CONCLUSION:Obesity and craniofacial skeletal abnormalities are non-reciprocal, independent causalfactors for obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome.","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_2_description_9":{"attribute_name":"記事種別(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"Original","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_2_source_id_1":{"attribute_name":"雑誌書誌ID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA00629581"}]},"item_2_source_id_19":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"03855023","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_2_text_7":{"attribute_name":"著者所属(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"Department Of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery, Dokkyo Medical University School Of Medicine"},{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"Department Of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery, Dokkyo Medical University School Of Medicine"},{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"Department Of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery, Dokkyo Medical University School Of Medicine"},{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"Department Of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery, Dokkyo Medical University School Of Medicine"}]},"item_2_title_3":{"attribute_name":"論文名よみ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Obesity and Craniofacial Abnormalities are Independent Causal Factors for Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Narikawa, Kimitaka","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kanazawa, Yumi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kawamata, Hitoshi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Imai, Yutaka","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2017-05-24"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KJ00009214762.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"162.0 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KJ00009214762.pdf","url":"https://dmu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1167/files/KJ00009214762.pdf"},"version_id":"7f716a1f-9706-4cc8-b435-7b7c058656d1"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Obstructive Sleep Apnea-hypopnea Syndrome","subitem_subject_language":"en"},{"subitem_subject":"Cephalogram","subitem_subject_language":"en"},{"subitem_subject":"Ricketts Analysis","subitem_subject_language":"en"},{"subitem_subject":"Body Mass Index","subitem_subject_language":"en"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Obesity and Craniofacial Abnormalities are Independent Causal Factors for Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Obesity and Craniofacial Abnormalities are Independent Causal Factors for Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"2","owner":"3","path":["69"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2017-05-24"},"publish_date":"2017-05-24","publish_status":"0","recid":"1167","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Obesity and Craniofacial Abnormalities are Independent Causal Factors for Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":3},"updated":"2023-06-20T15:58:20.333803+00:00"}
