We used a rat model of postoperative pain introduced by Brennan et al. Rats underwent a plantar incision, and responses to mechanical stimuli was measured using von Frey filaments. Rats were tested 1 and 96 H after the skin incision. Anti-NGF and anti-LTB4 significantly decreased the response frequencies to mechanical stimulation, however, NGF and LTB4 did not evoke mechanical hyperalgesia.
